Drop The Puck Night!
Parents Night Out Takes Place Sept 26th (7:00pm) at Ramsey Knights of Columbus Hall

August 22nd, 2015

Dear Ramsey Hockey Community,

Ramsey Hockey Association is pleased to present "Drop the Puck Night" on Saturday September 26th at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Ramsey. This event is open to all to celebrate the commencement of the hockey season with ESPN's Don LaGreca serving as Master of Ceremonies! There may even be a surprise guest or two. The cost is $55 per person and includes food catered by Ramsey Gourmet with wine, beer and soft drinks also included. Live entertainment will be supplied by Mary's Basement. There will also be a silent auction for NHL and NFL ticket packages, golf packages and more!

Whats on Tap

Don LaGreca

ESPN's Don LaGreca will be serving as Master of Ceremonies for the event. Don is currently co-host of "The Michael Kay Show", official radio host of the New York Rangers post-game show and host of "Jets Game Day" and "5th Quarter" pre and post game shows.

Mary's Basement

Mary's Basement is one of Ramsey's hometown favorites! Band members John Curren, Rennie Pincus, Jimmy Donegan, Tommy Irwin, Charlie Kaczorowski, Alex Stecyna and Steve Bello will be on hand to provide great live entertainment. The crew hits the floor at 9:00 and will be rocking until midnight.

Ramsey Gourmet

Ramsey Gourmet's catering will include a "Polynesian" theme, a place most of us would rather be during the dark cold days of the hockey season. Food offerings will include chicken, pasta and pork entrees with rice, vegetables, salad and various breads.

The evening festivities will also include commemorations for two Ramsey Hockey legends - former Varsity Head Coach Bob Toy and founding father of Ramsey Hockey Association Dan Mills, both who have announced their respective retirements this year.

Bob Toy

Bob Toy

Coach Toy took the helm as head coach of the Varsity team in 2007 and reached the State Championship Frozen Four semi-final in his very first year with the Rams. Over the next eight seasons, the Rams reached the Frozen Four semifinals six times, the State Championship Final three times and captured the State Championship in 2009. Coach Toy's efforts have not gone unnoticed as he was named New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association Coach of the Year in 2009, North Jersey Coach of the Year in 2008, and Suburban News Coach of the Year in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2014. During his tenure in Ramsey, Coach Toy has been one of the most successful high school coaches in the State and his record with the Rams over his eight years is 176-35-15 for an astounding .779 winning percentage.

Dan Mills

Dan Mills

In 1997, Ramsey had no youth hockey program and no high school team. That all changed with the foundation of Ramsey Hockey Association and its first President, Dan Mills. Since then, Ramsey has become known as one of the top hockey communities in the State which would not have been possible if not for founding father Mills. Dan has served as President of the Association from 1997 through 2002 and as Vice President from 2011 until 2015. During this time, Dan's efforts and guidance have been invaluable to the organization and the development of hockey in the community. In addition, Dan has coached various Rams youth teams over the years and has also become known as "The Voice of the Rams" for his announcing of Varsity home games and events which will be sorely missed by Rams Nation.

Please e-mail Anne Jacobus to reserve your tickets - agjacobus@yahoo.com. All checks are to be made payable to Ramsey Hockey Association and mailed or dropped-off at Anne's attention at 28 Deer Trail, Ramsey.

Volunteers Needed

This fundraiser would not be possible without volunteers. It is extremely important that the Ramsey Hockey community do their best to make time to assist with this event. Help is needed in the following areas:

  • Pre-event preparation
  • Set-up during the afternoon of the event
  • Breakdown of the event at the conclusion of activities

If you can volunteer, please contact Anne Jacobus at agjacobus@yahoo.com. Thank you for your support!
